Treasure Planet

I was watching Disney's Treasure Planet for my Disney Challenge (Go check that out). The character who's job it is to steer the ship is called Mr Turnbuckle....

That's right, this dude is named after a turnbuckle...

Lord of the Rings

Whilst watching Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, for possibly a millionth time, I noticed yet another  little wrestling tidbit. Frodo and Sam have reached the Tower of Cirith Ungol and the orcs and Uruk Hai are fighting amongst themselves. At this point the orc known as Gorbag unleashes what can only be described as the best dropkick in the business.

Wrestling in the Movies: How it Began

It was while watching the film Shrek that I first noticed what appeared to be a wrestling reference. The referance in question was, "You've seen a Superfly." I of course assumed this meant the Wrestler, "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka. After watching through the film I had no doubt that the creators of this film were wrestling fans.
Early on in the film Shrek and Donkey enter into a fight with a group of knights in an arena. Luckily there is a ring in the vicinity that they enter as Shrek begins to literally wrestle the knights. He performs moves such as The Ankle Lock, A Piledriver, Lariats and a Top Rope Splash. There is even a reference to Tag Teaming when Donkey Shouts, "Tag Me!"

Having seen this I began to think where else can small references to wrestling be found, and I decided to seek them out.

Bruce Almighty
Very Subtle here, but important to note. It occurs during the Sex scene in the movie. Jennifer Aniston has just exited the bathroom and squares off with Jim Carrey. He then does what can only be described as the Gorilla Monsoon pose... Tell me I'm Wrong...

Furthermore, Carrey goes on to Powerslam Jennifer Aniston, Randy Orton Style.
